Anxiously awaiting news of a form would accurately describe many people in regard to Kazakhstan adoption. The status of this country remains suspended. An early estimation of re-opening slated for March 2011 has passed and no news has surfaced as to how long we will wait. This can be discouraging for those who are actively waiting. Yet, I have said before and will continue to proponate that regulation and statutes take time to set in place. When an adoption program chooses to gain Hague status, a complete re-write of their program is often required. After the program is adapted, all countries must agree on the statutes and limitations. This is the tricky part. All parties must be satisfied in order for the country to re-open their adoption program.
Ugghh… Waiting seems to stretch out indefinitely. So what does the prospective parent who is interested in adopting from this country do in the meantime? Research. Look up blogs and resources that apply to Kazakhstan adoption. Find support groups online and local. Become involved in every area of Kazakhstan adoption that you can. This will help you in preparation for the upcoming changes. By doing so, you will probably be privy to information quicker. You will be able to tell me when the adoption program re-opens. I would love to hear from you.
When Kazakhstan adoption re-opens, they will continue a long-standing adoption relationship with many countries. The children available from this area are infants, toddlers and older children. They are well cared for and reside in orphanage situations. The children are said to adapt to new families well and are able to establish relationships though delays may be present and usually are based on the amount of years the child was institutionalized.
Watch for details regarding this countries’ adoption program. They joined the Hague Convention in November, 2010. As soon as the countries can come to legal agreements, they will re-open.
