Let’s Do This

July 13th, 2011

1188750_seats_pleaseI wish with all of my heart that I had a real update for you regarding Kazakhstan adoption. I do not. I have been off for the last six weeks do to injury and really hoped that the delay would allow time for this country to have done some activity to report. It has not. I have been discussing adoption from Kazakhstan with a Spanish couple who had their dossier returned to Spain do to the changes and updates. Check out our discussion under the comments from Continue to Watch Kazakhstan. One of the comments they made was that a new bill passed part of the legal requirements on June, 2011. I have not been able to locate whether the other half of… [more]

Watching Kazakhstan Adoption

May 30th, 2011

1044246_watch_outThe last movement in relation to adoption from the country of Kazakhstan appears to have been in January 2011. The only information I have located on that activity was that at the point, Kazakhstan planned to match dossiers of families already in the program. Unfortunately, I cannot locate whether this has occurred. Kazakhstan continues to work toward re-opening their adoption relationship by creating an agreement that is acceptable to its adoption partners. This is an arduous process that can seem as though it is not moving in any direction, much less forward. When the agreement is in place and approved, the long-standing adoption relationship will continue and the prospective adoption parents can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The waiting game is the hardest… [more]

Continue to Watch Kazakhstan Adoption

May 11th, 2011

1209991_waitingIt is a shame that I have no new information for you regarding adoption from Kazakhstan at this time. I know that there are so many of you waiting for news. I think that we are in the 'waiting and watching phase," if you will. In this phase, you the prospective adoptive parent scour all news sources and written material hoping for information on the much desired re-opening and Kazakhstan, I would assume, works tirelessly behind closed doors to meet the requirements and regulations that must be in place. Kazakhstan was slated for re-opening in March of 2011 but has not begun to accept new families/dossiers yet. This is a difficult place to be. For those of you who are waiting, the desired… [more]

Change is on the Horizon for Kazakhstan Adoption

April 22nd, 2011

498792_morning"Recognizing that the child...should grow up in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding."  Hague Adoption Convention, Preamble I began this post with a portion of the text from the Hague Preamble to remind those of us who are waiting for news from this country exactly why we are waiting. Waiting is difficult and sometimes does not make sense. We cannot see all of the facets that are happening behind closed doors and are thus left with part of a story and an inadequate understanding. Kazakhstan adoption has been suspended from receiving new dossiers since May 2010. It has been working on joining the Hague Convention in order to better regulate its adoption program and thus provide a better… [more]

Kazakhstan Adoption Status: Still Waiting

April 11th, 2011

1344720_peace_near_an_oceanAnxiously awaiting news of a form would accurately describe many people in regard to Kazakhstan adoption. The status of this country remains suspended. An early estimation of re-opening slated for March 2011 has passed and no news has surfaced as to how long we will wait. This can be discouraging for those who are actively waiting. Yet, I have said before and will continue to proponate that regulation and statutes take time to set in place. When an adoption program chooses to gain Hague status, a complete re-write of their program is often required. After the program is adapted, all countries must agree on the statutes and limitations. This is the tricky part. All parties must be satisfied in order for the country to… [more]

Still Waiting For Kazakhstan Adoption to Open

March 20th, 2011

1164630_little_girls_at_the_shoreThough Kazakhstan accepted the Hague Convention Statutes, the adoption community is still awaiting news of a reopening. Information about the status of the adoption relationship is sparse at best, the use of the word non-existent is probably fair. The reason that information is so hard to discover is because it simply is not available. Until an agreement is made between Kazakhstan and United States, this country will not reopen its adoption program. The waiting game can make a prospective adoptive parent very anxious. Yet, that time invested is worth every second. When a country works to put statutes and regulations into place the protection of the children becomes the focus. This is a good thing. Always. Kazakhstan has had an adoption program in… [more]

Kazakhstan Adoption Status Remains ‘Suspended’

March 4th, 2011

1150903_drawing_on_the_floorI was hoping to have new information to report in regard to Kazakhstan adoptions but unfortunately that is not the case. As of right now, Kazakhstan adoption is suspended awaiting Hague Convention status. This was slated to occur in March 2011 at the earliest. As it is early in the month, I am hoping that a positive report will still surface later. The last report that I have been able to locate is dated back to October 2010. This is the initial report that I referred to stating the approximate re-open date. The children who have been previously in need of adoption from this area range from infants to school-aged children. There have been many special needs children available as well. Hopefully when this country… [more]

Kazakhstan Adoptions Suspended, Awaiting Hague

February 23rd, 2011

538794_attachment_1I stated in the last post that Kazakhstan adoption is slated to re-open sometimes this Spring. I cannot find any confirmation of this fact. All that my information sources say is that this country is suspended to accepting new applications until the Hague Certification is complete. The orphan children from this country are predominately housed in orphanages. They seem to be healthy but have institutional behaviors that can affect them for many years. At times, hoarding food is  an issue for these children. This is not uncommon for children coming from a situation where food was not plentiful. This can be rectified in time by the constant supplication of food and drink present in a household. Attachment issues can range from mild to extreme. The… [more]

Research Today, Re-Opening Soon?

February 8th, 2011

1207951_woman_reading_at_homeAs we wait for Kazakhstan adoption status to re-open, I have done a little research. I love to research so this was not a difficult thing. It is almost like talking for me and I am good at that for sure. I find that with research understanding grows and the ability to process things is enhanced. This is what I found for you. The children that I read about who were adopted from Kazakhstan are beautiful. The pictures that I found show children with a wide-eyed Asian look . Their coloring resembles that Asian skin tones. There are also children of Russian descent available. Their coloring is more of a Caucasion skin tone. I also found out that people are still traveling to Kazakhstan right now… [more]

Basic Information

January 24th, 2011

449241_playground_kids_3Though the status of adoption for Kazakhstan remains closed, the target date for re-opening is approaching. Now is a good time to do some research about the country, eligibility requirements and what children are available for adoption. When Kazakhstan adoption re-opens, it will be with Hague Convention status. Here is some basic information. The children that are available (or will be in the near future) are of both genders. They live in "well-run, loving orphanages and are healthy, though special needs children are available." Most of the children that are available are toddler to preschool aged. Ethnicity is Asian, Eurasian and Caucasian. Eligibility requirements are fairly standard. Only heterosexual applicants are eligible. People over the age of fifty (between fifty and fifty-five) can only… [more]
